Zee Avi

Zee Avi is so special that I thought I would let you guys know even more about her. She is 23 and from Malaysia. She has this unbelievable jazzy voice and great humming skills. She signed with Jack Johnson's Brushfire Records. I think this is a great fit because she has the guitar feeling and heart that Jack has.
Her album just came out yesterday and I must say it is great. It's worth the $6.99...support the music industry.  It was reviewed in RS and I believe it received 2 stars but I think it deserves more. You can listen to it all on her myspace or buy it on itunes. It's definitely a chill listen for the summer time.

New Chris Brown? : Young Steff

I just read about a "New Chris Brown." haha Thanks to Vibe's editor-in-chief's tweets..she's introduced me to Young Steff. I think they're doing a vibe session with him right now.
He definitely sounds similar and dances similar to Chris Brown, so lets just hope he doesn't come with the drama too.
I went to his website and it's actually really good, especially for someone who isn't that big right now. I'm impressed. It says that his album will be available in 2009, so I dunno what that really means since it is 2009.
His single "Slow Jukin" is the featured video on his site, but his single "Professional" is a little more intriguing to me. It features Maino and it sounds like there's steel drums...love it. Here's the video, but check out his website too. http://www.youngsteffworld.com/

New Guy: Jeremih

Let's have some birthday sex! That's what Jeremih is singing and looking for anyway. Island Def Jam signed this new artist in  March and "Birthday Sex" is his first single. I guess there was a fight for him among Capitol, Jive, and Def Jam. Jeremih fits into the category of Ne-Yo and The Dream with his r&b/soul/ rap style, but he still has a while to go to reach their level. His resume includes playing the drums, sax, bass, and piano, but  I didn't hear any of that. All I could think of was the "I-I-I" part, which sounds like a slower version the  "Overnight Celebrity" part, and how the lyrics are kind of ridiculous. Here's a little taste: "See you sexy and them jeans got me on 10. 1-2-3 Ding, I got you pinned. Don't tap out, fight until the end. Ring that bell, and we gonna start over again. We ridin' with passion, 'cause it's your birthday." All I have to say is "Woooow." If this sounds appealing to you, go to www.myspace.com/jeremih and dig in. I think he has potential because he does have a voice, but I don't think this was the right single to promote a new artist.
