Daniel Merriweather

Like I said, I think Daniel Merriweather is the male version of Adele, but he has a good combo of sounds. I think he sounds like a combo of Jonny Lang, James Morrison, John Mayer and Robin Thicke.
He's previously been featured in songs, but he came out with his debut album in June, Love and War. I love the whole thing. It's a good easy listen to powerful vocals, good back ups, beautiful harmonies and tons of emotion. Sometimes the guitar sounds like the weeping guitars of The Beatles and other times there's a twang like the Beach Boys. Weird combo, but he makes it work.
You should definitely download/buy this album.
Here are some of my favorites:

Song of the Day: "Water and Flame

Daniel Merriweather seems like the male version of Adele to me, so you know I'm going to love everything he puts out. It was hard picking just one song from him, but since I do love Adele I picked the one that features her haha.
Their voices blend so well together and you can really feel the emotion of realization, breaking up and a little bit of longing.
Give it a listen. Definitely good for a rainy day like today.

New Music: LeVar Thomas and Caleb

So I have some updates on some previously mentioned artists. Maybe you've already given them a listen if you follow them..I've been pretty slow lately.

Caleb posted a new song on his facebook page called "Fifth Wall." It has a Bon Iver feel to it. The harmonies are beautiful and the range is ah-mazing. Go check it out on his page.

LeVar has a new song as well. It's called "Lovin' Alone." I think it's more mainstream and poppy compared to his other songs, but his vocals are on point like always. Download it right here.

Song of the Day: "You! Me! Dancing! "

I was not expecting what this song delivers when I saw the title. I thought it would be light and energetic, but no Los Campesinos goes in. They produced a dark energetic sound thats better for going crazy, moving your arms all around and maybe a slight mosh if you want to...no twirling and floating around with this song. It's gets pretty intense around 2:16, but it definitely shows that they have great dynamics. I really like the change in moods and I love the use of a xylophone??? oh and the violin and plucking around 5:25...brilliant!
I really enjoyed this song, but it may not be for all, but get it a chance and hit play.

Song of the Day: "Junkyard Dog"

So I was sent this song by a very good man. I really like the beat...it really reminds me of OutKast...It's by MAYDAY, just so you know. It kinda makes me wanna get up and dance all crazy like (like in Garden State where she does her most original thing ever) or at least nod my head a lot.

Song of the Day: "Hold The Line"

This song is kind of genius to me in some way. You may not like it if you don't like reggae, but everything in the song is great. It starts off with this western horse clapping and then goes into that surfing song vibe and then you get Santigold's signature craziness. There's just something about it that makes me happy.

Song of the Day: "I Gotta Feeling"

I know that this is way commercial...in 2 ways, but for some reason when this popped on my shuffle today it totally felt right to post. It just makes me happy and optimistic so hopefully it does the same for you.
"fill up my cup. mazel tov!"

I Like: "Kiss With Your Fist"

I was reading the 20 Watts blog and I love this song. I would definitely have to agree with them when they say it sounds like Adele and The White Stripes...nice find. If you really want to read it go here. But you can download the song here.

Ragen Fykes

I think this lady is very talented. She has a mixed sound of Erykah Badu, an old soul and some spice. Her music content kind of reminds me of Corinne Bailey Rae too. Very easy and beautiful. She has an EP with 3 songs, but other than that I couldn't find anything else...well besides the songs on her myspace page. But you can get the EP right here.
Here's a video to see what she can do, but check her out and you can follow her on twitter.

Song of the day: "Helium"

Sorry I've been slacking so much lately, but hopefully I can keep up with it now.
I was searching around for some new music and read across Ragen Fykes.
I like this song because of the biting chords and I think her voice is unique. The only things is that this song sounds just like that song where it says, "You can feel it in your heart..oooh" or something like that. If you know what I'm talking about can you please tell me in the name of it because it's killing me.
"And as we're floating away peace to all those who stay. it's what we gotta do drifting what we gotta do above the clouds we can stay its way more fresher that way."

Song of the Day: "I Think I Like It"

So I saw this band, London Souls, the other day at the Afro-Punk Festival and I thought they were awesome. They can totally rock out and get a crowd going....I must say I was bobbing and clapping.
If you get a chance to see them you should go. They're going to be at Public Assembly in BK tomorrow night @ 9pm and Santos July 14 @ 8pm.
Check them out on their myspace page.
