Southerngold Mixtape

I'm glad someone is keeping me in touch with new things while I'm on my little trip to NYC....thanks Edwin. Well Edwin sent me this link to mixtape of Santigold songs with southern rappers' lyrics. I think it's brilliant because I'm a fan of Santigold and then the rap songs they use are all favorites.
You can download it if you scroll all the way down or click here.

New Mixtape

This was on Kanye's Blog and I nearly jumped up and down. Q-Tip, D'Angelo, and Raphael Saadiq woooow. What more can you ask for? I haven't fully listened to it, but I'm just going to assume that it's a great combo of songs because these three guys are so talented. Click here for the download.

The Drake Bandwagon

I've been reading around the blogs and listening to my friends talk about Drake and I found something interesting. There was this whole conversation of people saying they love Drake, but they only know his new songs and they only love him because he's hot right now. I understand the whole thing about "now fans" (I coin this phrase from now on). You can't just say you love the person because he/she is the shit now. Don't just disregard him after the next guy comes around. You have to stay with him through his whole career. It's like loving a sports team, you can just like them when they're on a winning streak. Plus he's a pretty good lyricist.
So with that being said, I've included a link to datpiff.com . You can check out Drake's earlier mixtapes. He also released a newer one with Lil Wayne, but I couldn't find it so go search.

Oh the Anticipation & Reward

So I'm pretty pumped about 2.5  things.

1. I pre-ordered my Chester French cd so I'm getting that download when it hits the 22nd. I hope you guys ordered yours too. OH and if you got that email, anyone want to sign up for the safari or slumber party with me? haha

2.  Kid Cudi released a track, "Daps and Pounds," that, if I'm understanding right, will be on his cd when it drops this summer. Go here to get it...but if you go to the link below you don't have to.
And he dropped another mixtape "Dat Kid from Cleveland." It basically has all the tracks everyone has heard and then some new stuff. go here to download it.

Great Mixtape

I mentioned Chester French previously and their great release idea for their mixtape. I hope you followed suit and went to www.chesterfrench.com/mixtape and signed up to get it, because it's great. The skits are funny and the collabs are pretty amazing. These guys are going to be big. I thought maybe their Harvard intelligence would seep into my brain and help me write this paper, but it isn't. Definitely too distracted by the lyrics and skits.
Go listen to it!

He's An Incubus Now?

Charles Hamilton dropped another mixtape around the beginning of the month. I got it on the first, but I don't remember if it came out before that. This one is basically an homage to one of his favorite bands, Incubus. I like this one a lot, but maybe it's because I'm an Incubus fan too. Charles explained it on his blog as follows:
*Concept: An incubus tried to attack me in my state of meditation/subconscious/sleep. Before it got a change to attack I woke up and asked why it wanted to attack me. It responded, "Dude, I'm an incubus. That's what I do. I f*ck with people when they least expect it." After a serious heart-to-heart with the incubus, I decided that using this incubus to transmit my thoughts to the world would be the only way for people to understand me in my natural language: vibration.
*Tracks (the Incubus song is in parentheses):
- The Incubator ("Wish You Were Here)- the one and only trip down the birth canal, every time you hear the song.
-Friendly Reminder/Mop-N-Glo ("A Crow Left of the Murder," "Blood on the Ground")- asking for understanding and reassurance, as well as a cover of "Blood on the Ground."
-I Really F*cking Do Tho ("I Miss You")- It Must be a West Indian thing. But every time I fall in love, I feel enchanted.
-Nascar ("When It Comes")-Me when I look dead in your eyes and not smile.
-Parent-Teacher Night ("Warning")
-Hall Pass ("Nowhere Fast")- where and what determination gets you
-Eddie Lee ("Anna-Molly")
-Cosmic Hopscotch ("Stellar")
-Sunstorm ("Under My Umbrella")
-Sci-Fi Channel ("Here In My Room")
-The Warmth, Hamiltonized ("The Warmth")
-Rivers in Reverse (" Aqueous Transmission")
-Brandon and Jimi Talk Fire ("Pardon Me" acoustic)

If this sounds intriguing to you, you can go to http://www.zshare.net/download/58060188e0e5baf0/and download it.

From Producer West

Mr. West posted a mixtape of songs he produced on his blog. Some of the artists are people I've never heard of, but maybe I'm just a little slow. There are 22 songs, so enjoy. Check it out on his website or download here. If you don't know how to decompress rar files go to http://www.unrarx.com/ and download the program. It's really easy.

Smart Guys and Music--Chester French

So these guys are Harvard graduates and they're making some sweet music that has caught the ears of Pharrell, Diddy, and a lot more. You've probably seen, heard, or read about them somewhere by now, but if not watch this video to learn more about them. You can also go to http://chesterfrench.com/mixtape/and sign up to get their mixtape emailed to you Wednesday. They also have a nice little blog going on to. The list of songs and skits look like it's going to be entertaining. I can't wait.
